I do like those images. How do some of you think those PPG units stand up today against other digital synths, controller keyboards, modules, software and samplers?

I'd get a Wave 2, if it were more affordable. Otherwise, it probably has more historical value than practical value.

Having messed alot with the 1:1 PPG Wave emulation Wavesim, I'd say it's one of the hardest synths to actually edit and program in any way. All menus are abbreviations and hex values, and you must do LOTS of menu programming on this one. Unless you just wanna play presets of course.
The Waldorf VSTi PPG Wave2.x is a "dumbed-down" version of the actual synth, you cannot follow the original's manual to learn it for instance.

According to people who own them, nothing sounds like it, and it is very unstable and unpredictable. Not something I'd bother buying today, I think.

How do compare a Microwave and a PPG Wave, if it comes to sound from your point of view? Does it make any sense for music production to own both? I just try to fight my GAS...
