Anybody have any idea what gear Al Jourgensen of Ministry used? I'm not looking for any particular sounds, just curious. I'm particularly interested in the early singles, Arista material, Twitch era up to Psalm 69. I know fora fact he had a Fairlight and probably still uses samplers, but I'm curious about what synths he used in his early Ministry career.

I think Al Jourgensen used a lot of Heroin. That and some guitars, for sure. Other than that I'm not too sure.

good point. I bet Al doesn't know what he used other than heroin and some guitars. I have some old magazines and stuff I can look through to see if I can find anything out....no promises though.

i read in a magazine along time ago that he used a some type of fairlight synth
i guess it was quite the spendy peice of equipment

i have also heard that when he was starting off the people that came to his show were the people he sold drugs to

here's a video from 1983. frankly i love early ministry... i just love the sound they had... i have nothing against how they sound now.... i just prefer the early ministry. apparently al refuses to acknowledge this first part of his career.

im not sure what gear they have on stage...

I can't stomach any album after Twitch, and even that one I feel is half good.
Later Ministry is proof that guitars don't necessarily make you kool.

I know! I kept hoping that he'd do the absurd thing and throw some synthpop back into The Last Sucker, but I doubt it. Looks like its gonna sound like another Rio Grande.

There is written following in the book "Behind the Boards: The Making of Rock 'n' Roll's Greatest Records Revealed" by Jake Brown

"Jourgensen recalled that “we had the Fairlight, but that was very limited in sense that it had a 1.6 second sampling time, so we used some Fairlight, but on a lot of those early Ministry albums, I used a Roland Juno 60 and Roland Jupiter 8, and I also had a Prophet 5 I used for some strings, but it was mainly Roland with a little bit of Fairlight thrown in"
