that would be sweet! I dont really like the sound of the new nord modular...i prefer my old one...and i dont like how the big knob is smaller on the new one. haha

that said, if probably pick up a micromodular G2 if it ever came out. you should send your little p-chop to clavia :D

thanks, me too..I like the G1 sounds better. but like the G2 features..and if they really come up with some analog features, I'll be more than glad to be the first in line

The analog fx you suggested alone would cost that price if done well in stereo. :D

Keep it digital, small, and give me upper-tier build and UI.

Use pedals for those analog chores.

cheers,

there are several modules from the G1 aren't available in the G2, that's why it will sit nicely next to each other.

Sold! This should be the G3

You'd also need a sine bank oscillator, just to stop the G1 owners whining.

Unfortunately, your brilliant mockup is missing the guitar strap pegs and plug-in SH-101 style mod grip...

What I would like to see from Clavia:

Nord Lead 4 (NOT NORD WAVE!!!)

Physical: 4 Audio Outs, 2 Audio Ins, 24/96 AD/DAs.
Osc Structure: As per Lead 3 (its sync and FM capacities are monstrous and the sound of them is razor sharp) but Osc 1 has independent tuning controls like Osc 2. In addition, add an "audio input" oscillator type (allowing you to sync an external input to the sync oscillators, or use the other osc to FM the audio input). Possibly add bitcrushing to the Oscmod section. Make FM between the oscillators bidirectional (implement a one-knob way to control the direction and amount of FM).
LFOs/Mod Env: Can assign each LFO to multiple destinations simultaneously in differring amounts. Ditto Mod Env.
Filters: Go back to NL2x filter coding BUT KEEP THE DISTORTED LOWPASS FILTER FROM THE NL3! Keep the Dual Filter modes.
Effects: None!

As usual, 4 part multitimbrality and 24 voice polyphony.

This sounds good to me. The NL3's "Advanced Subtractive" was a great concept... it still has the best inter-oscillator modulations of any synth in my setup and unlike the Virus it sounds so bright and crunchy and it DOESNT ALIAS when its doing them! Yeah the filters arent the best, but the distorted LP filter is cool (instant hardcore acid!). The above suggested evolution will make it a MUCH more powerful FM synth (being able to adjust the tuning of osc 1 makes massive difference) and sync synth.

great suggestions, seems like you know both synths well (2 & 3). my additional wish is for the NL4 to have some real analog filter to warm things up. at least as an option like the Stromberg.

I actually bought the Nord 3 as mostly an FM synth so I could do without the analog filters. However I can understand why someone would want them... if you added the analog filters to my Nord Lead 4 spec, you would have a very workhorse synth. However, thats kind of against Clavia's philosophy, and so are analog components. Either way its a useful suggestion. Im a hybrid w***e as well.

but remembering that Clavia was also used to be an anti-samples, who knows :)
