So Something Awesome Just Happened
I had a DX7s that needed a new battery, I replaced the battery, still broken. I was going to sell it when I heard about replacing the sounds via sysex. I tried it out, and something awesome happened. It didn't work, but instead made it so the synth just makes really wierd and really cool glitched out digitial noises. So I figure, who else uses broken DX7 noises in their music? And now I have a very rare synth that can't be bought anywhere. Awesome!

damn. i thought you were going to tell us d**k Cheney shot and killed Karl Rove & George W in a hunting accident, then in a fit of despair, turned the gun on himself.
oh well, i can dream can't I?

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

AND POST SAMPLES
just pretend for all intensive purposes that im completely retarded
That was his VCS3 which was probably suffering from interference with the patch matrix which plagued earlier models.Panurge8 wrote:That's awesome! You'd better keep it.
Legend has it that when Eno got one of his synths repaired he would specify which broken parts he wanted fixed and which broken parts he didn't.
If the sounds unique and you can use it then its always worth keeping!

heh - i like that Eno story! I just plugged my fancy new tabla drum machine in and aaaaH! it sounds nothing like a tabla - has the interesting rhythm patterns, but the sound is so warped. i really do think its broken. I should try and return it and get my money back. Instead I'v shelved it for future use, thinking - " I'v really got something different here - could do a whole CD arround this evil sh*t". !!!
"On the following day , the sorcery undespairingly continued: I changed my series, chose other sequences, cut other lengths, spliced different progressions, and hoped afresh for a miracle in sound." (Stockhausen)
Maybe they were made to sound like s**t. I think that's what Korg was going for when they made my ER-1.tom Cadillac wrote:heh - i like that Eno story! dude, i third the post samples suggestions. really wanna hear it. closest thing I've had is when my m-audio audiophile flipped out once, and everything i tried to record sounded weird and glitched out- so I plugged in my DX-200 and just recorded 20 minutes of dicking around and saved it to chop up and use later. Which I have. BUt please, post some samples
