More info leaked regarding the Prophet08 oscillator...
"The first module, which is the one we're showing here, is an 8-voice, multitimbral analogue synthesizer very much in the tradition of the stuff I did with my old company, except with some semiconductor technology improvements to make it more reliable and smaller. The oscillators use a hybrid analogue/digital approach so that they combine the sound of a VCO with digital stability. The circuit uses a high-resolution digital counter that produces a clock feeding into a custom analogue chip which, in turn, converts that clock to the desired analogue waveform. The pitch accuracy is much higher than typical digital machines and the resolution allows us to create very subtle oscillator detuning effects. Another feature of the HROs [High Resolution Oscillators] is that they can produce clipped triangle waves as well as all the other obvious analogue-type waveforms. The clipped triangle wave sounds very nice and you really can't get that sound any other way."

UK people, I phoned Turnkey today just in case you were thinking of doing the same. The guy I spoke to there was equally as interested in it's arrival as me!
As suspected they would estimate the price to be around the £2,000 mark and they should be getting some in shortly after it starts shipping in the states. About 2-3 weeks.

The pound is worth close to $2 these days isn't it? FWIW, the rest of you should know that they're speculating on the design of the P'08's oscillators and someone posted this Tom Oberheim quote regarding a Curtis IC that may or may not be used in the Evolver. IIRC the actual Curtis IC in the Evolver is a modified version of said Marion Systems Curtis IC.

The poster might have been influenced by some folks that have conjectured that Dave Smith is using the Curtis chips that were made for Marion systems.
From Dave's statements elsewhere, I doubt it.

Absolutely. I think it's far too much. Given that they were selling Poly Evolvers for approx £1,900 and are now selling them for £1,539.99 I'd be surprised if they try and sell the Prophet 08 for £2,000. I think they probably just said that as an approximation. I think I still might go for a Prophet 5 though... I've wanted one for 5 years now, so perhaps that's an omen.

£2000 would be ridiculous. You can get an second hand Andromeda for half of that.
