there are 15x the amount of polyphonic synthesizers for sale in 2007 than in 1980....
There are roughly 3 polyphonic pure ANALOG synthesizers available in 2007.

A6.
Is the Sunsyn still available?
Oh, and those Code things, but that's almost an Omega 8.

But still, there are a lot more poly synths available today, and even though not all are analog, they are still competing head to head with the analog poly synths for consumer dollars, and competition almost always leads to lower prices.

Actually Gallant was trying to point out that poly synths from back in the Prophet 5 era were much more expensive than what the 08 is being offered for today.
Kaz's response didn't make any sense but it's funny to see the thread spiraling off course once again!

Based on the latest news post, the P08 appears to be selling like hot cakes.
I'd like to know the numbers. I wonder if the guys at Roland are going "damn, we need to make an analog polysynth now!"

I doubt it. I'm sure $2000 workstations are still outselling $2000 analog polys 10 to 1

although as I understand it the big players make good money from tiers of products that don't match their flagship sellers..
