In electronic music, sequencers are as important as synths.

I'm a little confused ... is there an official link ... or is all the info conjecture and what DB is saying?

There's nothing on their website, at all. Apparently, DSI decided to keep it under wraps until a week before they will have product to sell. Dave Bryce isn't smoking something illegal. This unoffical-official announcement sorta reminds me of how Dave handled the introduction of the Poly Evolver KB 3 years ago.
Stay tuned.

So what is this....and admission that the 4 voice poly evolver was a joke or something? And even so...8 voices, thats nothing groundbreaking (prophet 10 anyone?)...well I'm sure it will sound good, but i don't see why everyone is flipping out about it and pawning off all their stuff in preperation for this.

I hear that one can 'poly-chain' these 'Evolvers' of which you speak...to increase polyphony. As it is, the sounds the Evolver is capable of are too thick for serious stacking. If one was using it for basic analog duties, this synth will fit the bill much better, I'd imagine.Neonlights84 wrote: So what is this....and admission that the 4 voice poly evolver was a joke or something? Also, the P8 may have something to do with the 30th anniversary of the release of the original...?
As it is, the market will welcome an affordable analog poly, I'd imagine people are flipping out (who?) because it's going to be a fair bit less than Sunsyn/A6/SE money, and have all those straight-up analog features people seem to like so much. Not my bag, but it seems like a worthwhile idea.

I haven't seen anyone flip out nor have I heard of anyone pawning off their gear as you claim. But I imagine that people are excited because Dave, unlike other manufacturers, actually listened to what people have been asking for the past couple years which is a new affordable analogue poly synth. There is no other new analogue poly near this pricepoint so Dave has listened to and reponded to the market.
.....i have some things that create and sculpt sound.

The Evolver series is capable of much too much to be the result of a desire to make a classic analog poly.Neonlights84 wrote: But i thought that was the idea behind the poly evolver.
Digital Waveforms/Waveform sequencing
Output Hacking
Tunable Feedback
3-tap Delay
Those, and the giant mod matrix (with some truly bizzare/great destinations) don't spell 'straight-up analog' at all.

Not really, completely different type of hybrid concept. You would be surprised at the amount of people that really just want a simple all analogue poly without all of the maintenance of maintaining a vintage one. You could see that from the fact that even after the PEK came out people still kept asking for just a simple analogue poly. I applaude Dave for this, because it shows that he does listen to the synth community unlike most other manufacturers.Neonlights84 wrote:But i thought that was the idea behind the poly evolver.
