Access Virus C (Rack) vs. Virus TI

Post by fastonkeys » Tue Aug 28, 2007 1:40 am

I'm sure this has been raised before, but can someone provide some guidance on the merits of keeping a Virus C if one is planning or has access to the TI?

I'm asking this question for a friend who is contemplating selling off his "C".

Many thanks!!

The TI is a superset of the C - everything the C does the TI can do too (and the C was the superset of the B, etc.)

Unless you're really really short of polyphony, I don't see any reason.

Yeah I have a C myself ... I'm personally not especially lusting for a TI. Sure, some nice upgrades have been made but I'm still quite content with my C for the time being.

Still, it kind of sucks that they haven't had a new OS for the C since, what 03?? I would like to see more flexability added to the waveshaper and aftertouch support ... but that's not gonna happen looks like

EDIT: actually, after RTFM a bit for aftertouch, it says it's there but I don't see it as a mod matrix source (unless its not clearly named)? from quickly browsing i can't see how you'd link it to say filter cutoff. Any help, please, anyone? :o

My main driver for upgrading from the C to the TI was the effects block. Single global reverb/delay on the C verses individual reverb/delay on the TI.

Edit: Should point out I play live. Hence it comes in handy. Studio only; I could probably live without it.

And the polyphony on the TI in my experience is pretty c**p.

Aftertouch is there as a modulation source. It's called Channel Pressure!
