examples of BUCHLA 700 ?

Post by hinotori » Fri Aug 31, 2007 2:57 am

Hi,
does anyone have any examples of how the Buchla 700 sounded ?
or more information on how it worked ?
pdf of manual ?
who used this synth and on what commercially available recordings can i hear it ?

there is a nice video of it on youtube .
but little other information around, possibly due to its rareness .

it looks like a very interesting and individual synth, as youd expect from mr buchla .

any information would be great .
thanks

Where's the video of the 700 on Youtube??? I've only seen Buchla RocknRoll and some bloke and his Music Easel.

I've got an mp3 of some radio show where Don runs through the 400. That sounds pretty incredible, I imagine the 700 would be more so.

You can use rapidshare.com too. But it's a bit of a hassle when it's just an MP3, have to click on several buttons to download it.
I think there are free music sharing websites, just don't remember what they're called.

i have a number of crazy Buchla 200 (original)/ 300 series modular samples i made a while back. i know some old Buchla people and will probably make a pretty giant sample set of some esoteric Buchla stuff like the Music Easel and later modular systems since they are so obscure.

Which Buchla model(s) used a conventional keyboard? The Toronto based free improv group CCMC had a keyboard equipped Buchla in the early '80s.
Keys: Realistic Concertmate 500, Korg K25, Korg Micro X

Guits: '86 Fender Japan '50s Reissue Strat, '80 Aria Pro II TS-300 Thor Sound

I'm in the slow process of uploading the mp3 to a new myspace page now.

It's aptly titled "Buchla 400".

It's currently 4:46 am here so I may need to sleep now but it should be uploaded by the morning. :P

thats a great demonstration .
will take a few listenings and a manual to understand exactly what was going on . but really great to hear . thanks .

if anyone out there has a 400 or 700 and is willing to share some examples id love to hear .
these seem to me to be 2 of the most creative (in terms of unusual new design) synthesizers ive read about .

I agree. Really seems to be a thoroughly innovative approach like most of his stuff.
I really like Buchla's idea that keyboardists shouldn't be the only ones able to play electronic music.

We need more 400's and/or 700's!
