Good Bass Synths
Looking for a decent synth that puts out some nice strong sounding bass
for use in drum and bass or hiphop applications
it would be nice to see a list of competent units old and new
any tips ?
any rack filters of effects units that work well ?
anyone here just use bass guitar with bass fx petal ?

You could possibly get the results you want from a microKorg Not quite the same as the ones mentioned above, but the results are rewarding.

You can get some huuuuuge sounds out of the Nord Micro Modular, there's a patch that's meant to be a Pro 1 (not quite...) but it churns out a sound that Gary Numan would be proud of

please to explain. all i can get out of that machine is pretty "lead", the basses sound pretty weak if u dont eq the h**l out of them.zmd wrote:used wise, i adore my roland sh2000 for bass. great filter, and the growl effect is hot
as for bass synths: sh09, 101, jupiter-6, ms-10 (play a bassline with the square wave at 32" and pitch it an octave down in your sequencer.. h**l will break loose)

I'm surprised that more people on here don't talk about the SE-1X. It seems like a great bass synth, especially for hip hop, and I see them go on eBay for $800. I know that some say the envelopes are slow, but I don't hear that in the demo sequences and there's apparently a one-resistor mod for it. In many ways they sound thicker than the Moog Voyager, despite one less oscillator. Where's the love?
