Hammond B3!

Post by Synthazaiser » Tue Sep 18, 2007 12:45 am

Okay, I know It is not a synth, but I need to talk about my latest purchase. My mother was at a yardsale last saturday at a retirement home. She stops in to see me at work and says she got me an organ. I'm thinking "whatever, I already have two organs. I get home and sitting at the top of my steps is a very minty 1959 Hammond B3 with a Leslie. I was just about to go insane. My mom paid 75USD!
Currently have: Baby Grand Piano, B3, CP-30, DX7, Casiotone MT-210, Axxe 1, EPS-1, Promars, MC-202, TR-606
Used to have: POLY-800, TR-505, Techstar TS-306, DX7, ESI-32, Juno-106, DX27, Synthcart, JX-3P, ESQ-M, Mono/Poly, MS2000BR, VX90

Congratulations on the deal of a lifetime!

Why is a B3 not a synth when a string synth is a synth?

B3 uses a type of additive synthesis, does it not? The waveforms are generated through an electro mechanical process and then divided down, like a string synth, to give various pitches.
