A small amount of lateral movement is normally built into components of these sorts. It reduces stress.
You dont need to worry, its not the knob working loose already.

I'd like to hear it do bizarre sounds, deep guttural type sounds n' s**t. I know it excels at classic analog sounds but I want to hear it freak the f**k out! I'd check it myself if I could but i'll be damned if I could find one around here.

I noticed something a little odd about my Prophet 08 and I wonder if anyone else has the same issue.
When I create a mono sound and run it through the stereo outputs with the stereo width parameter set to zero, the output isn't perfectly even. There is a slight bias towards the right side.
I probably wouldn't have noticed this with just my ears, but the mixer levels in Cubase show it pretty clearly.

i have the same problem!
this is the reply from dave smith support:
"It's difficult to know where the problem lies without actually looking at it. It could be either the output board or the voice board. If I send you boards so you can swap them out, can you send the other boards back to us?"
well, I give back the synth to the store where I have bought it for a new one.

Yeah DSI have the best customer service ever, whenever I've contacted them for any reason they've responded promptly and gone out of their way to make sure I was happy. They even sent me more knob caps when I lost some drunk at a show!
