Do you still have your first synth?

I sold it, but then bought it again.

Ozzy, is that you?

My first synth was a roland xp-10... I still have it and would never sell it. My first analog is a jx-8p... these 2 are keepers

Hey, I just realised I did own something before the Mono/Poly I mentioned above; an Alesis HR-16B which I bought in '92. OK so it's not a synth, but a drum machine is close enough, isn't it? I was in a goth rock band, and they all had to have drummachines (you know, Sisters of Mercy, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Echo and the Bunnymen etc...) I actually still have it somewhere. Doubt it if it still works though...

My first real synth was an M1.. I got it back in 93?
Before that it was an Casio SK1.. I got it for Chrismas that first year they were out. I might have been 10 at the time. ?1985?

Both are long gone now.

Pro One bought new in 1983 (for £350 IIR).

Sold in '91 (prolly at the low point in analogue prices) as it didn't have MIDI... Didn't really know what to do musically either.
Discovered house/techo about 2/3 years later and realised what I needed the Pro One for... :)

Wouldn't mind another but not at today's prices (£550 recently!).

I have one too and use it as my main midi controller because I like the wide mod and pitch wheels. I also like its sounds - same as TX81Z without portamento.

(ignore the fisheye effect - guess I got too close with the camera.)

It says "EOS" followed by "YS-200" in small type. This is the version that was sold in Japan.

Not really sure if I could even consider it a synth, but mine was the Casiotone CT-310. Got it about ten years ago and it's still in perfect working condition. I could probably chuck it off a ten story building and still have it work flawlessly. The sounds are rubbish, but I mainly use it for sampling after routing it through effects.

Looks like someone actually modded one and painted it pink:

Memories... I got my first synth in 1983. Was a Korg Polysix.
Must have kept it for about 3 years.

I don't have it anymore. I almost bought one lately, but i'm putting my cash on a Prophet 600 instead (which i'm waiting for).

For sure i'm going to get another Polysix one day. With MIDI of course...
If you don't know what you are doing, why are you doing it?

my first hardware synth was a microkorg, purchased in 2004.
was great fun but i found its limits within days and felt frustrated by it...

it was sold in 2005 when i got a nord lead 2x and a voyager.

Roland JV-1000 was my first synth. Not a great keyboard by a longshot but it got my feet wet. It was sold and replaced by the XP-80 many moons ago.
