Post by ulfeide » Sun Nov 11, 2007 9:52 pm

hey, i'm gonna give my mom a microkorg as a christmas present this year because i know she likes to play the piano but she likes them small and type of bob james ish sound on them.

does anyone have any electric piano patches that i could load up in it before i put it under the tree?
and can anyone point out what i need to edit to change which bank it will get saved to?

i'm having some money troubles so i've gotta be early witht the gitfs this year.

thanks in advance!

She is going to call you an ungrateful bastard and run out of the room crying. Give her a Nord Electro 2 instead...else she will disown you.

You can save where ever you want. Check saving data, called something saving, in the manual or something like that. There is a sound/librarian app on the korg site for it too.

Yeah there are. There is a wurlitzer type patch in there and some organs. They are stored in vintage I believe...yeah in there with hip hop.

I so hate that whole category thing the MK has going on. Cheesy to the max.

cheesy perhaps, but whatever, who gives a f**k about the categories as long as it sounds good?

but does anyone have any patches? the nord electro really isn't an option considering my budget.

A better choice would be the micro-x, at least soundwise. The keyboard is too short for any true piano playing though (But as is the keyboard of the mK, and the microkeys would probably annoy here if she's used to piano keys.

If I ever get an MK, I think I might scratch off the categories and screenprint my own. Depriciative? Perhaps...
Main Gear: Korg M500, Casio CZ-101, Yamaha PSS-480, sitar, cassette tapes

Damn right - you can always put stickers over them if it's just too much to bare. ;)

Firstly, because your mom is into electric pianos, have you considered something like a Casio or Yamaha consumer-level keyboard? They are cheaper than a MicroKorg and sound exactly like the instruments that were sampled to create their patches.

Secondly, this is a BUYER'S GUIDE question.

Yeah man if you want electric pianos the mk would not be very good. you absolutly could get a relativley small electric piano for cheap. The only real electric piano patch that i can think of is that wurly one like...Hip Hop 5a i think.

The polyphony would be the biggest b***h if you tried to play that thing like an electric piano.

Good point. Four notes max polyphony on the MK.
