I was thinking about building a filter box with 2-4 filters (depending on price)
and was hoping you guys would know about some cool diy filter kits.
I was thinking something like an ms-20 clone as it has separate LP HP controls.
I would mostly be using this while dj'ing whith Live, routing each channel to its own filter, as well as with my synths of course.
Any suggestions on what filter kits to get? (my googling didn't find much)

Re: DIY Filters
Google DIY modular synth and you should get a lot. Also the analog heaven mailing list might be a good place to ask. There's a polivoks DIY filter that would be interesting.Meso wrote:I was thinking about building a filter box with 2-4 filters (depending on price)

Thank you guys for the replies,
I know about the modulars and thats not what I'm looking for, I am looking for a basic filter with only one input and output and a frequency knob and resonance,
most of the modular filters come with separate lp/hp/bp outputs which will not work for me.
I was thinking something like the Frostwave Resonator, but in DIY kit form.
*edit*
I actually found a modular one I could use, the Blacet Dual Manual State Variable Filter.

Thanks, that Filtrex looks nice, but too many controls for what I need it for,Altitude wrote:there are a bunch. Look through the DIY sites

the Blacet filter I mentioned in my previous post seem like an ideal filter for what I need.

Easy, just only use the inputs and output pads on the board that you need. So if you want to imitate the MS-20 response you would have one filter with only a highpass output, and then another in series with only a lowpass output. This one's so simple it wouldn't hurt to construct multiples times:Meso wrote:I know about the modulars and thats not what I'm looking for, I am looking for a basic filter with only one input and output and a frequency knob and resonance, most of the modular filters come with separate lp/hp/bp outputs which will not work for me.

Thanks for that link, looks like that filter suits my needs.neandrewthal wrote:Easy, just only use the inputs and output pads on the board that you need.
