how about an affordable vintage preset with analog filter?

lets face it,we are not all sound programmers!I certanly dont have the patience or time therefore a keyboard version of arturias analog factory,or something based on the roland mvs1 to take to rehearsals/gigs would be great.woodencheeks realtime control and a thick soft analog filter would seal the deal. :)

Does it have to be a keyboard? The Matrix-1000 is an analog with 1000 presets in a 1u rack space. Cheap too. I guess it doesn't have all that real-time control though (Except mod-wheel etc.). Newer va's have a lot of presets too.

First thing that came to my mind was the Korg Micropreset. http://www.vintagesynth.com/korg/micropreset.shtml

It has the Traveler filter, which sounds great!
I am no longer in pursuit of vintage synths. The generally absurd inflation from demand versus practical use and maintenance costs is no longer viable. The internet has suffocated and vanquished yet another wonderful hobby. Too bad.

If you want something that has the real deal vintage analog sound, the ARP Pro-Solosit and Pro DGX come to mind, as they are analog and have presets, but very limited filer control (just cutoff frequency). They are also pre-midi, and I do not think that you can easily add midi to these boards.

Something that is more VA and MIDI that is small and can be easily carried would be the Alesis Micron.

How about a Korg Sigma ?

Layer a goodly selection of the preset/synth tones together of differing footages, mess around with the filter cutoff joystick and it can sound very very powerful.

Also, the Ring Mod switch can yield sonic insanity.

"a keyboard version of arturias analog factory... wooden end cheeks" you say...

You mean the Analog Factory Keyboard - which I wrote about here:
http://musicthing.blogspot.com/2007/11/ ... ience.html

Obviously it's (mainly) software, so not really what you're looking for. I'd suggest a Matrix 1000 + a CME keyboard...

yeah i bought my friend a beaten up micropreset for his 21st and them pimped it out for his 22nd. Only problem is the 'synthe 1' and 'synthe 2' patch banks don't work, which eats balls, since they're the only ones which implement the (albeit very simple) attack & decay controls.

Still, the basses on it are nice and fat. put it through my g7 pedals and f**k it sounds awesome.
