ah, now i'm with ya.... buyers guide.

....but... this is one of those co-operative threads and when most people make threads like this e.g "Post pics of your setup", etc...

usually people comply. I dont see why it is a problem. :?: :?: :?:

I think that you missed the point of my second post. I'm trying to get people to start chiming in with ideas. However, your original post lacks a lot of details, which many find not only helpful but necessary to be able to start offering suggestions.

Heck, I can think of loads of synths that meet the 800 AUS and looks-good and sounds-good categories. But, with the 800 AUS exception, the "good" criteria are completely personal preference. For example, I may love the sound and look of a Fizmo, whereas someone else may hate transwaves and purple. So, I pointed you to the check list for the Buyer's Guide in the hope that you would answer some of those questions and, thereby, make it easier for others to offer more tailored suggestions.

dont waste your words WD. this tool has been banned before for incessantly bumping his own threads, continually posting threads in the wrong place and so forth. most all the questions he asks can be remedied with 2 minutes of google search he cant seem to do for himself.

Ok first of all, I wasnt banned so I dont know what you are talking about

Secondly, every forum that I join everybody ends up bagging me out for just asking questions.

and I certainly don't expect to be called a tool, especially not by a mod. Why are you being so rude, you're a mod ffs.

I have never called you a "tool".

When I first joined this site I found it extremely helpful and everybody was so nice and there were no spammers.. but now things have changed.

There's no need for this to spiral into a name-calling contest.

Meneedit, WDW is absolutely right: you need to provide more detail. "sounds and looks good" are extremely subjective. If you could give us an idea of what kind of music you plan to use it for, whether you want a keyboard or module, mono or poly, analog, digital or VA, then we could give you some suggestions. Personally, I think the ARP Odyssey III is one of the best looking synths that I've seen. That might not be your preference.

thats the problem with you kids. you think everybody is out to get you. did it ever occur to you that you are asking a very subjective question that only you can answer?

tell me, should i reheat a twice baked potatoe for supper, or should i make some broccoli and cheese soup?

dude, if you have 800 dollars to piss away and you need a bunch of stranger's advice on how to spend it on whatever synth that looks the best (for christs sake), i say give it to charity.

Ah, the ever dreaded thrice-baked potato versus broccoli & cheese soup dilemma!

I say, "steak sandwich!"

WD

P.S. I can never figure out the proper math on the potato question. Technically, it has been baked twice already. So, is the reheating a third (separate) baking, or is it a cumulative re-baking of the two previous bakings? In other words, it is thrice baked or twice-baked squared? Oh, it gives me such a headache.

In all seriousness, Meneedit's question is quite profound. And it merits further thought (, and Tallow is headed in the right direction).

So, Meneedit, have you ever asked yourself why it seems that everyone in every forum picks on you? There are certainly at least two perspectives on the interactions. It happens that yours is that you are the target of mockery. But, perhaps, another perspective is, in fact, more accurate.

Over the years, I have discovered that, when evaluating interactions with others, there is more value in looking first within than without. Is it more likely that fora are filled with fiends who find fun in flaming? Or is it more likely that the poster prods the people into protesting his pathetic posts? Personally, I find the former far more feasible and, therefore, frequently the fact of the affair.

Thanks johnny,

I'd like to say one that can make sounds like in Jody Wisternoff's "Cold Drink, Hot Girl" but in the end I'd like to say something that is mostly dedicated to making smooth dreamy stuff but can also make a nasty sawtooth.

Here is an example of the stuff I would like to make:

My budget will actually be about $600, and I suppose it doesn't have to be one that looks nice.

Thanks again :)
