Just wondering if you guys have and recommendations for a synth / rompler what have you that is geared heavily towards orchestral and world sounds and also bizzare organic textures.
I already have the gear to make enough fat leads bass and pads to last a life time. Looking for something more organic, specifically something that does organic soundscapes well.
im also not looking to spend more that about $800 on it right now, and would perfer something rack mounted.
take a look at what i got in my sig, if you have any other suggestions of what might compliment my rig feel free to add that.
thanks everyone.
Best orchestral / world / soundscape oriented synth

An amazing synth to add to your collection would be a Roland JD-990 adding in the World or Orchestral expansion cards (I believe it holds one at a time). The JD-990 does amazing ambient sounds, and is the best sounding digital synth I've ever heard. You might also try the Roland XP series, which can hold multiple JV upgrade cards.

I picked up a Roland U-110 with a dozen soundcards and an Emu Protues FX for pretty cheap recently. The FX is basically a combination of the earlier Proteus modules in one box with a few short-cuts. The Roland is better for piano/choir/ensemble sounds IMO, and the FX is better at solo instruments, but neither of them are geared to organic textures, and though they're dirt cheap the sounds are probably bettered by the JV/XP range.
EMU released the Morpheus in the 90s, which features what they called Z-plane filters, which was all about multi-point filter morphing, as far as I remember. That might serve better for textures, but the Wavestation seems to get good press.
You could do all this with sampling, too, but it's more effort

For $800, you could pick up a JV1080 (or 2080) plus a few of the expansion cards:

The cards usually turn up on Ebay for $75-$150 (depending on how "rare" the seller has convinced himself a particular card is
