Hmmm. I currently have both the 202 and 505 and I have to say the strings do sound different. I actually like the 202's strings a bit more. Its more gritty and dirty. The 505 is overall cleaner and more refined. That said the 505 can layer up many more sounds.

Not correct, the Jup 4 and RS-505 came out in the fall of 1978. The VP-330 mk I on the other hand came out some six-to-eight months later in the spring of 1979.

its still with in the same year....I dont have the spefic month in front of me...I believe Jup-4 and RS-505 was Sept 78 while it was April 79.

Yes they were released within a period of less than a year, yet IMO you cannot really say they came out within the same year. Oh well.
