Forget about FM,that ain't gonna happen, VA probably the same used in the V synth, physical modelling of some sort I could see happing.

Check out this awesome review by The Audacity Works, over at the Roland Clan forums:

Roland said this about the ARX board,"SuperNATURAL is Roland’s unique behavior-modeling technology that enables a new level of organic, emotional expression previously unattainable in synthesizers"
I'm not sure about this..is it featuring some sort of a physical modeling instead of just a bunch of samples and patches?

Roland sure has a way with naming new types of synthesis, going all the way back to the D50 (granted the D50 is one of my favorite synths, and an all time great) I don't think it will be a bunch of samples like previous exspansion boards,ARX drums seems to incorperate some kind of modelling tech, kind of like AP synthesis in the V synth gt,who knows maybe these new exspansions might sound good.Personally I think Roland should have focused more on improving there filters, and stop cramming so many waveforms into compressed rom.

One comment about the ARX boards; there's been a lot of whining and complaining about the Fantom G "only" sporting 128 voice polyphony. In any case, the ARX boards add their own polyphony to the system, not eating into the G's 128 voices.

this ARX board is more interesting than the keyboard to me. If it's really have additional synth engine and polyphony, I would like to see something like the mini version of Omnisphere as an ARX.

I'm not a big fan of Roland workstations. I've owned an MC-909, MC-808, and a Fantom X6 and found them all to be frustrating to use and severely limited (mostly with respect to effects). The UI's are terrible, imo.
This new board might hold some promise. The mouse input has me wondering if maybe this thing bridges the gap between the ease of computer sequencing and the immediacy of a workstation.
A rack module with a VGA output? That could be interesting...

Omnisphere +1!!! ARX boards do look promising, but do you think Roland will get it right?

Very possible, specially since they always have tight integration with Spectrasonics and Mr. Eric "Roland" Persing

They put some of the material from the Distorted Reality, Liquid and Burning Grooves to the older expansion board. To put some of the material and technology from the newer one to the newest expansion board supposed to be reasonable. If ever we can turn the G into an Omnishpere type of hardware, it's going to be one of the coolest workstation around.

Omnisphere seems like a tall order for any hardware synth, let alone a plug in board, its like combining a Virus TI,a Solaris (although i have not heard it yet) Waldorf Blofeld, or Stromberg, and sample playback. If i had to guess what ARX boards where to follow, VA, wonder if this would be based on previous synths or a new VA, then some kind of Brass and woodwind modelling,If they create a V synth in the way of an ARX board with layering possibilities like GT along with the added effects section of the Fantom G that would be a very, very powerful workstation I might even change my tune towards them.

I just saw the ARX boards
video and they are very nice, specially the drum features. It's also interesting to see how DAW like the
sequencer is using the mouse on a big LCD screen. since that was just a prototype model, I wonder that the real product would have a VGA out.

I'd figure the "G" series would replace the "X" series. Just as the "X" series replaced the "S" series and so on. If I had money and was a fan of ROMplers I'd guess I would buy it, but considering I'm neither of those I guess I won't be getting it.
