Keytars
A friend has recently bough 2 keytars, a lync LN 1000 (midi controller) and a non working Junost 21 (soviet synth). Pictures here:

Since the Junost is not working, my friend gave it to me to see if I can repair it. I will be posting my achievements with the Junost in my blog (if I manage to achieve anything...).

i use only AX-7 as my main controller XD
if you made the right split and patches you won't miss the extra keys of a full size keyboard (oh well, if you don't have to play piano parts obviously... but it's not my case)

I don't know why Roland doesn't make another AX controller. Now is the time, they are in demand. These were about $600 brand new, which is actually kind of high, but the prices they go for is about 1 and 1/2 to 2 times as much. Really quite silly. Basically I think these people have money burning holes in their pockets and they bid like they're rare or something. How can the AX-7 be worth $1000+. It's not a quality guitar, it's a piece of plastic.
No sound comes out of it at all. The only different between it and a $100 EMU controler is the AX was made for straping it on, even though you can easily put guitar pegs into any controller.

It seems ridiculous that people pay crazy out the butt prices on these, but don't care to buy one new for about half cheaper. I think Roland just rereleased it at the wrong time and missed the boat. How many people used keytars in the 90s and thought it was cool. Not many I imagine. How about today. I notice a LOT of bands that use them and synth based bands seem to dig them the most. And in today's day and age where music seems to typically have synthesized sounds in them now, it seems like Roland is like someone who's been hurt.... they're too hesitant and don't want to be hurt again. It's too bad. Even the AX-1s are fetching around $600.

Sorry... I should have wrote SH-x01 then, as the name seems to be inspired mostly from the SH-101Stab Frenzy wrote:Like all the other SHs that were keytars?Synthprophet wrote:The SH201 should have been of another concept. A synthkeytar like the Liberation, then it would have matched the SH name better.
