quasimidi 309 - TR-707

Post by ryandivine » Wed Feb 06, 2008 2:00 am

hey, this might very well be a no brainer, but i can get a quasimidi 309 for $600AU with the audio I/O expansion, but on the other hand can get a tr-707 for $200AU (or a circuit bent pitch control one for $500)
i know its a strange comparison, but i dig the 707 vibe and it can sync with my juno-6's arpeggio clock..
any advice would be groovy.
im up for making weird lo-fi psychedelic beat driven stuff.
(think chemical bros/daftpunk/justice meets punk rock)
cheers hipcats

Get the 309. You can sync anything up to the Juno's arp clock, just send a loud signal in at whatever rate you want. I do it a lot with our Juno 6 and drum samples from Live.

thanks! the 309 doesnt have a trigger out, but could i just run one of the extra audio outs to the arp clock in order to do it 'live'?
sorry im a bit slow with this, im only accustomed to guitars and stompboxes.

Yeah, just run a rimshot or something out one of the outputs to the arp in, should work fine. Ideally you want something with a sharp attack, but try toms and other stuff, you can get some random double triggers that sound really cool sometimes.
