When doing a show, do you tend to leave your drum machine(s) in write mode and make things up as you go, or do you stick with play mode and what you've programmed beforehand?

Play mode

17%
Write mode
2
33%
That's why I'm just using drum machines that CAN switch modes while running.

50%
I'm not trying to keep things running constantly through a set, I hit stop and switch things around then start up again.

Live performance w/ drum machines - write mode vs. play mode

Post by space6oy » Sun Feb 10, 2008 10:00 pm

i constantly wish that my other drum machines could switch from play to write modes while running, the way the 606 can, so that i could start off with stuff i'd made up beforehand but jump in and edit if i want to switch things around.

so, i'm just curious - any of you that're performing, are you sticking with what you've programmed beforehand or going with write mode and making things up on the fly despite it taking a little more time to rearrange?

OR i guess are you hitting stop and switching things up then starting again instead of keeping things running?
