The Art of Re-Loading Factory Patches from tape/computer/cd

I have with zero luck with being able to reload the factory presets back into one of my synths. I can load and save new patches into the factory prests and user patches with no problems...I was wondering is there an art to this, or is it plain trial and error

Help Section...?

Which synth? Sysex transfer via MIDI or audio input loading from tape/PC?
