I just did something compulsive....

I was minding my own business, surfing the net (as you do when there are people downstairs you can't really be arsed with at that particular moment)....and I clicked onto Turnkey's music website.
I was greeted with a big flashing banner - 10% off if you buy online, over the phone or in store this weekend (1st-2nd March). 10% seemed quite a deal....particularly if I was to spend £1500+. Hmmm I thought.....so I phoned up and within 5 mins I'd bought myself another Virus TI 61 key.
Its ironic, but when confronted to spend this sort of money.....I tend to let pride of ownership and build quality heavily influence my decision. I appreciate the likes of Andromeda, Prophet 08 and Voyager are nice synths.....but when pressed I seem to side with the Virus because overall it outclasses every synth.
Its been a strange.....but fun day. Back to work tomorrow...... hurray

lol thanks......I have owned the TI on two previous occasions.....
It'll be a permenant additon this time. I was going to hold out for some kind of MKII version....but the truth is....the TI already has a whole host of features I'll never get round to using purely because I dont work in that way....
Cheers

Haha, I wish I had anywhere near the money to do such crazy impulse buys. But one has to pay bills, mortgages and food..can't live on synth alone, sadly.

I'm making payments on a Virus TI 61. I should have it in a couple weeks, and I got it cheap too. But is silicon tasty?

IM-pulsive. You did something impulsive, not
com-pulsive.
Just saying.
Oh, and congrats. I'd love to have the desktop TI someday. \:D/

Congrats on your purchase. It made me think of something I may use for my sig line:
"Only on a synth forum are people happy to get a Virus!"

It's
com-pulsive when you do something over and over again and can't stop it.
The Virus TI is cool though.

I experienced things like that, but never on a synth with such a price

congrats for the quick decision, it's hard to go wrong anyway with such a great instrument.

You beat me to it - I was thinking of editing the title lol
I'll be using the Ti 61 as my main controller for the FS1r and WavestationSR. The Ti will be used for bread and butter poly sounds......and the racks for bright digital tones. I still need to pick up a Moog Voyager OS and LinnDrumII analog then Im done....
really done as my bank manager likes to put it.

The virus synths are great, specially if you dig in deep and utilize the effects and other tricks. I remember finding a big PDF about how to program sounds on the Virus, it was like a huge tutorial in subtractive synth programming, specifically for the virus but could be applied to other synths aswell. I just gave up reading it since it used so many Virus specific menu terms.
I'm not one to be impressed by "flashy" presets like arpeggio sequences and whatnot, so I've been kind of cold towards the small Polar etc that I tried in stores. Gotta go beyond presets to love it for real.

most of the presets are boring techno trance stuff, but you're correct, you really have to get into your own programming to truly enjoy the virus.
its a programmer's synth more than anything.
