Keyboardlessness
Stab's post about quality vs quantity got me thinking. My least used piece of gear is my CZ1. But it is my only set of keys. Getting rid of it would give me desperately needed space, but I would be keyless.
Does anybody else have a setup with no keyboard?

Currently I do. I have an MC-909 and no controller for it.
Granted, my kids have an older Ensoniq piano that I can midi to it, but I never do.
I am awaiting delivery of a controller from Wiss, however, so that will give me keys to fiddle around on.
It's been 15+ years, though, since I last played seriously, so my skills are now worse than my kids, but I really don't mind. I just like to muck about these days.
Funnily enough, Jack, when I did play "seriously" one of my synths was a CZ-1! It's now in the hands of Tardis, by the way. Small world ...

I've been synthless from time to time....normally due to trading and selling while compling money to get different gear....its been a revolving door the last few years....I am starting to get a clue to what I want....The only things that never leave are my Farfisa(s)...

im in the process of selling everything i own that has keys with the exception of a new novation SL25. im not sure if a 2 octave keybed will be enough for me or not yet actually, but i want to consolidate and only own gear i use and also not need to take up so much space in order to live somewhere (my 1 bedroom apartment is somewhat dominated by all the gear and i would like to be able to spend less $ on living space and be able to move around easier as well)

I'm a total hack at playing keys, but I wouldn't want to be without them. Playing live would be pretty boring without keys to play, and I don't like sequencing stuff by having to turn a data whell or whatever.
Sometimes I wonder if I could just have the MEK as my only keyboard, and replace the V-Synth with an XT, but I quite like having five octaves for organ and pad stuff.

mostly I need keys, but when working with the RS7000, I enjoy just working with it and one power button to turn on. the mini buttons and pads just feels right, no keyboard needed with that.

yeah, this is the set up I am dreaming of now that I have an MEK in the studio...while there are a few other items in line first, {keyless devices like drum machines/rhythm boxes} an XT will be a must have...Stab Frenzy wrote:

Definitely a subject near and dear to my heart as I am on the verge of selling my Nord Lead 2X whose keyboard I've barely touched in 2 years. I am a sequencing freak, but going keyboardless has a bizarre "flying without a net" fear for me. Someone once suggested that I might miss the keys for just testing out tones or whatever, but I don't see that as a major concern.
