Ok folks, I've been searching around for several weeks for a decent XP-50 but the minters are in a heaver US$500+ (out of my budget) or on the other end, needs the drives, keys etc.

Now this was brought to my attention, a 61-Key X-board by E-mu....I never heard of this before but seems like just what i need.

I think this is a great and more cost-effective approach to entering Synthing at US$250 for a new unit. Already own a Macbook and Apple Logic.

What do you guys thing?

Trust you realise this is a midi controller keyboard with no synth engine in it.... had one of these for a while but had to send it back as was faulty AND never got it to link up properly with PC. Probably just me/mine though, if soft synths is now the way for you, pretty sure this comes bundled with Proteus software/sounds if you buy new or S/H & complete.

BTW, think you've been unlucky on the XP50, keep an eye out, you should find one working OK for that money or less. See them on Ebay UK for not far off that fairly regularly.

I am gonna tough it out a little longer, I've never seen or used a soft synth device before. but you never know the way of the future. Obviously it'll probably be a pain in the a*s not being a standalone synth.

Then again, that's why I ask in here....


I guess there are many more XPs in the UK, most here in the US are around 600-800. No matter how good the XP is a Juno-G workstation is worth that.

Hence I believe the XP is better built.
