Yes indeed, Twice a Man is probably the greatest Swedish contribution to the world of synth-pop. I stumbled upon Karl Gasleben's page on the tube a couple of months ago and got all nostalgic. However, I thought they released 'Girl' from Works on Yellow as a single? Wasn't there a promo vid fot that one? I remember Mr Gasleben's synth shop in Göteborg was quite a hangout for young synthheads back in the 80s. And I used to go to school with Dan Söderqvist's son Johannes... Great stuff!

It's nice to see I'm not the only TAM fan around here

As for "Girl", it was indeed released on single back in 1985, the year before Works On Yellow came out. I don't think there ever was a promo video for that song but you never know....

I wasn't aware of that Gasleben ran a synth-shop, that's news to me.

Btw, have you seen the live videos for "The Sound Of A Goat in a room" and "Sorrow" that were included as a data track on the CD?

I'm afraid I only have their albums on vinyl. By the way, I forgot to mention I saw 'Macbeth' by Theatre Scheherazade back in 1985. Twice a Man did the music for that production. It was a brilliant theatric event.

He ran the synth shop attached to the Yamaha Keyboard Centre at Seminariegatan GBG. I bought my first drummachine there from him. An Alesis HR-16 (the black one). Cost me 3999 SEK.

You don't say..how cool! 'Macbeth' is a wonderfully dark/ominous sounding instrumental album.

I saw TAM live back in 1982 or '83 in Västerås (where I live now).

P.S. I've got some rare live recordings from '83 and '84 and the sound quality is very good. Let me know if you're interested in those.

I agree, especially the latter.

'decay' is a dream, and so is 'sorrow'. my favourite t.a.m. release is sound of a goat in a room... one of those rare synth pop bands which didn't turn into boring simple mainstream. on the contrary, their recent stuff got far away from 'easy listening' and became more demanding. for that reason, their evolution reminds me of talk talk - from synth pop to jazz/ambient  :D

"The sound of a goat in a room" (originally released on MC back in '83) is probably my favorite TAM album too, particularly the live version/s which I think is/are great.

You can listen to the complete album HERE

wow!

I love the transformation of the main singer, from 1980; very punk to 1985, very 80's and then 1991; super 90's, long hair and a big two piece suit
so cool!
