If someone is paying the price, then no.
Old, flogged and tired opinion. Therefore a casiotone is a much smarter choice than a 101.

The 101 IS over priced. $450 max they should be selling for.

Thank you, Computer Controlled. After all, $450 is the asking price of an ARP Axxe. In my mind, the 101 is little more than an Axxe in microchip form.

I've got an Evolver but I'm seriously thinking of getting a Mopho but would like to ask the people who've got it:
- Is glide possible using the sequencer (I'm guessing it's the same as the Evolver so 'no')?
- Does it have that small filter bug the Evolver has where a quiet, un-filtered oscilator sound is heard when the filter is very low (especially noticeable on higher notes)?
These are the only things I don't like about the Evolver and would be great if they're 'fixed' on the Mopho. Also, people who own both, is it really worth it, do they sound/do different enough things?

Glide is not possible on the internal sequencer (bummer)
Don't know about the Filter bug. Never heard it on either machine.
They both have their own sound. The Mopho has a tighter, punchier sound than the Evo. It's def better for analogue percussion than the Evo is. Better bass too. They both have their place.

Nadafarms, thanks for the Future Retro XS recommendation. That thing looks pretty bad a*s to me and the price is pretty fair IMHO. I love the fact that they put the audio and midi plugs on the front face. I wish my Radias had that because it has to go on the top of my rack because of the plug locations. Also, do you have to direct order it from Future Retro because I didn't see it for sale anywhere else on the net (sweetwater, zzounds etc.)?
I'm not trying to derail the thread here, but doesn't the Nanocontrol lack midi? I've been considering getting one for my nord micromodular, but I thought it was USB only.

Yes, it does lack MIDI. But, you can route it through your computer at least.

Really? I only really notice it on certain sounds especially if using the Evolver for dark ambient sounds and it's prominent in the mix.

Thanks for the info. It's very tempting especially as the pound seems to be dropping more and more against the dollar so might be worth getting it sooner rather than later. Still not sure it's different enough from the Evolver to be worth it though. hmm

Got my mopho today. Still getting used to it, but man does it sound good. The bass on this thing will rattle your brain. Definitely happy with my purchase i'll get back to you when I learn more.

Quick question... I just got my Mopho and wanted to know why it doesn't have the ability do produce a Sine Wave either in the oscillator or lfo parameters? It seems like such a simple thing for any synth to do, am I missing something or is this by design for some reason?
BTW, this thing can take the paint off the walls and piss off every cat and dog in about a 10 mile radius!!! Very warm, aggressive and blow out your studio monitors BASS that I just couldn't get from my digital stuff. : )

No Sine. It's by deliberate design of the hardware.
They say: The closest you can get to a sine is to filter a triangle wave.
