The Mopho is a subtractive synth. Subtractive synths work by running one or more oscillators which are rich in harmonics through a filter to remove some of the harmonics and end up with a sound which is hopefully good.

Sine waves have no harmonics so aren't that useful for subtractive synthesis. If you really want one you can get close with the triangle wave and a little filtering or by self-oscillating the filter in 4 pole mode.

Dude, that was awesome! Makes me want to skip buying Christmas presents this year and get a Mopho.

just got home with mine..
dont laugh, but it's the most i've ever paid for a synth, including my arp.. but my god it sounds good..
shoulodnt the editing soft ware work in real time, or am i missinfg something? i wanted to start digging into it right away, but i had no success talking to the mopho with my digi 001, so i used my tascam.. and even then i havent figured out how to send sysx data..

It would've been something if Dave Smith had created something like the Roland PG programmers to work in direct conjunction with the MoPho or Evolver synths.

yeah! .. i dont think that will happen though, unlike i had expected they arent really selling alot of them
the guy at guitar center said i bought the only one they stocked.. i think its been out for a couple months at least..
not that i actually "believe" the guitar center guy..

not sure about a dedicated programmer, but with the success of the Desktop Evolver, the keyboard version came up. So, who knows that it's going to be same.

Between software control and other midi controller boxes that are available, i think making your own dedicated editing midi box may be a bit redundant nowadays..

I don't have a mopho but...

You have to tell the evolver to listen to midi... 'midi rec' parameter on the Devo.. maybe?

I can't wait to get home and dig into the Pro Editor. It just dropped -I think today in fact.

I have the Voyager edition from Soundtower and I prefer the VST interface for major work and keeping the surface controls for variations and specific tweaks.

Even if that's true, it's too early to tell for stores...it just got here and the word has to spread. It also depends on how and where it's displayed in the store. I see it being the curious little yellow piece behind the glass that you casually ask about and research later when you remember to.

I think it might be too small to leave out- even if it's chained down somehow. The TI Snow is sitting behind the glass along with the Sonic Cell so...those are pieces you have to know about and research in advance (and basically- go to the store to pick up) and not to demo before buying.

I think it will keep slowly gaining momentum.

well.. i tell you what when i saw it was coming out i wrote off some of my christmas bonus..it was the first time i ever went out and bought something that was brand new.. it's awesome! been messing with it most of the evening..

so they're not charging for the pro editor then?

NM, downloaded it and it asked for a key. I see no place to buy it though.

Soundtower website is for the download, but you buy it on the DSI website (first).
I think the thought is, you frequent the DSi site...and buy it for your Mopho, but the actual Editor is a redirect to the apps download page.
