You're right, there's no point making any new analogue synths. Or digital ones for that matter. Please return your Andromeda to the place of purchase for a full refund.Bitexion wrote:But..isn't "straight up digital" and "straight up analog" side exactly what the Evolvers do already?
Joking aside, the Evolver's analogue side isn't straight up analogue, it's analogue controlled by digital encoders. This one will be controlled by voltage running through the front panel knobs. No presets, the only crossover will be the envelopes coming out of the digital side. Also at this stage it's looking like I'm going with a Steiner clone multimode filter and perhaps a tube VCA, two other things the Evolver doesn't have.
But yes, there will be similarities to the Evolver, which is my favourite synth. This will make the Evolver look pretty tame though.
Man, there's gonna be a million technical problems.Jabberwalky wrote:Cool Stab, I'm hoping this gets rolling without too many technical problems. In the osc section I think something like a bit depth knob would be really fun, but I'm not sure how possible that is. Detune amount is a must I think, but I think you should leave levels out. Keeping it raw like a guitar is a good idea. Maybe a knob that tunes one osc up whilst it tunes the other down in the same amount?
I think bit depth could be a cool thing to have, but practically it would involve too much work to get going. Aliasing might be a bit easier to do.
That detune idea is a good way to do it, I might have to incorporate that one. A centre-detent pot with positive and negative amounts would be the way to go I reckon.
Payday is Thursday, then I should be able to start ordering parts. Can't wait.
