Synth used on Corey Hart's Sunglasses at Night
So out of the blue the synth part for this song and then the vocals come into my head this morning, it's one of those songs you want to crank up if it surprisingly comes on the radio, typical 80's type song. Now that I think about it the song Sweet Dreams has a similar synth line.....or not

I do believe we had a thread about this before, but never really came to a definite conclusion what was used.

Re: Synth used on Corey Hart's Sunglasses at Night
I posted a thread a few months ago asking the same thing.
For some reason though, that thread seems to have vanished. Yet other threads I've posted, including older ones, still exist.
I don't get it...
But anyway, the song was originally recorded in 1982, so that narrows down the possibilities some. My random guess was a Jupiter-8. The only things the old thread determined was that he used a DX7 for that sound live for his "Boy In The Box" tour, and a delay was used to achieve the ping-pong effect.

Ummmm I did a search on the forum here before posting and nothing came up so here we are again.
That synth line has such a nice texture to it I am also guessing a Jupiter 8.

I still think that lead in it is a JP8

There's an interesting reply on the last page that seemed to've gone totally unnoticed:

The synth heard during the refrain sounds a lot like a Prophet to me.

Hey, that's my thread I couldn't find earlier!
I thought the thread had vanished. The search isn't turning it up.

Hi I am new here and I was wondering if anyone knows how the Synth sounds are made in Corey Hart's song Never Surrender?? referring to the intro of the song.

The intro to Never Surrender sounds like it has DX7 marimbas, a D-50ish string pad and others.
I think the synth in Sunglasses At Night is a Polysix. I recreated the sound on Polysix Legacy, and it sounded 99% similar without delay even.

Korg, Casio, Alesis, and Yamaha (Minilogue, WK-7600, SK-1, CT-X3000, SR-16, MX49)
FL Studio 12, VSTs, MIDI keyboard
Non synths include string, woodwind, percussion, and toys for SFX.

Uno Synth Ultimate Patches has the intro patch pretty much spot on. Hear it at 24 seconds:
