Korg lp10

Post by tom Cadillac » Fri Nov 21, 2008 8:58 pm

I got one of these last week, on the strength of liking other Korgs from that time, and just wondered if anyone else had any opinions about it or information.

I think it has a really huge analogue sound and is well worth checking out - even though it says 'electronic piano' on it and hasn't much modulation options (though what you get - simple enevelope control / EQ / chorus - is very useful.

But it sounds immense and has that wonderful light polysynth keyboard action where the notes just cascade out - far away from the key action of a 'piano'.

FWIW, Rick Wakeman used a couple of LP-10's (along with heaps of other Korg gear) during the 1981 tour.
I'm pretty sure they saw some use in the studio as well.

Great picture! Looks fit for an octopus!

Wakeman's philosophy was quite obviously why have one keyboard when you can have five. And its interesting how at the time Korg had arguably the two kings of '70s rock keyboard, Wakeman and Keith Emerson, as endorsers.
Keys: Realistic Concertmate 500, Korg K25, Korg Micro X

Guits: '86 Fender Japan '50s Reissue Strat, '80 Aria Pro II TS-300 Thor Sound
