Gee, thanks, Micke. Now I'll never get back to work!
The frightening thing is that I have three of these, and Ghosts of Mars, on DVD. I have more Carpenter DVDs than any other director... except Francois Truffaut.

I'm currently working on a Rock Opera setting of "Dark Star". Love the Carpenter Soundtracks.

A John Carpenter thread, and yet there's no mention of In the Mouth of Madness, his greatest film.

Re: John Carpenter appreciation thread
Probably because as far as Carpenter soundtracks go, that one kinda sucks. Like someone copping Metallica riffs on a portastudio in their basement. Awesome movie though.Black Tomorrow wrote:A John Carpenter thread, and yet there's no mention of In the Mouth of Madness, his greatest film.

Re: John Carpenter appreciation thread
I couldn't imagine many of Carpenter's films being the same if anyone else did the music for them. His soundtracks were almost always very sparse and added to the atmosphere rather than intruding on it.
I didn't get where I am today by posting on internet forums.

Yeah, good point, lhm. Awesome film, but thinking back to it, the music wasn't his best.

Re: John Carpenter appreciation thread
i love a good "oh, i see... okay, wow, that's crazy... see, 'cause he... oh yeah..."-type ending as much as the next guy, but man, that movie absolutely DID NOT stick the landing. i loved every second of it right up until the end, but the "wrap up" was borderline offensive.lhm1138 wrote:Probably because as far as Carpenter soundtracks go, that one kinda sucks. Carpenter sure can bang together a brilliant score when he wants to though, that's for dang sure.
