What's with Future Music's 'Alternatives' section???

I just flipped through the latest issue of Future Music, where they review the Korg M50. Usually in their reviews they have a small section of 'alternatives' to the product in question.
Well, 'alternatives' to the Korg M50 are apparently Roland V-Synth GT and DSI Prophet 08 (!).
What the he** is this nonsense? And it's not just a glitch, I've seen really stupid comparisons in the mag before.

What's the UK street price on those instruments? Perhaps if you go strictly on price they could be considered alternatives to each other. Reminds me of places like the IMDB and Amazon that give you "if you like this, you'll like" recommendations that are often ridiculous.

Totally different beasts, totally different prices.

Weird. There must be some system in place about why they would pick those pieces.
Logically it should be one up in scale and one down and then one from a competition perspective.
Korg M3, Micro-X and then Roland Juno D (cheaper) or Juno G (adds sampling/recording).

FM is fun but a bit of a joke IMO - its like a big comic composed of adverts
I still buy it tho for the pretty pictures and the promise of something actually useful...and they do interview upfront electronic music artists
