Nik Kershaw synths

I dug into my Nik collection today and pulled out The Riddle; Stuff still sound freaking amazing after all these years! Does anyone know if any synths/samplers were used besides Fairlight and DMX?

Live, Nik Kershaw used a Jupiter-4, Minikorg 700S, Juno-60, DX-7:

The sampler used for bass on "Don Quixote" and other tracks are Emulator II or maybe Emax, from what I've heard.

Live he also used JX-10 on tracks like "Running Scared". There are also some hints of OB-Xa...

I don't know for the particular "The Riddle" track, but Nik loved the Roland analogs a lot. Juno-60, JP-4 and JP-8 were many times used in his studio tracks and also live.
E.g. "Wouldn't It Be Good" was a lot of JP-8 as far as I remember.

The Juno-60 is probably the one he used the most. Dancing Girls for example...The synth lead in "I Won't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" is a Prophet-5 though.

Drum machines were 808 and Oberheim DMX afaik.

Personally knowing Nik and his band members during that period, I would like to correct a few errors on this post.

On the first album the synths used on the album were a Juno 60, Obreheim OB-Xa, Yamaha DX7, Roland TR808, the Obreheim was in fact the lead synth on "I won't let the sun go down on me"

live the keyboards used were a DX7, Jupiter 4 and Roland Juno 60, the rest was played from a Tascam 16 track recorder with the original recordings from the album.

With regards to the Riddle Album, Nik used a Yamaha TX816, Yamaha RX11 Drum Machine, Roland Jupiter 6, Obreheim OB 8, Yamaha QX1 Sequencer and a Roland Juno 60.

Live he used a Emulator II, X2 Yamaha DX7's, Jupiter 6, Onreheim OB-Xa, Juno 60, Yamaha TX816 and a QX1 Sequencer and a spare for backup.

it was the third album Nik Introduced the Roland JX10 and the Sequential Circuits Prophet 2000 Sampler, along with the above instruments. Nik actually bought x3 Super JX10 Synths, 2 on stage and the third for a backup.

the Works Album, Nik added the Korg M1 to his recording and live set up.

Hey, I recently got a wet 22/11 track stereo work session of "Wouldn't it be good" definitely sounds like Nik, but I'm thinking it may be a later re-record? I rendered a quick mp3 of the session to identify below, hope it's not a violation. Just curious.

I just have two quick questions for those that may know more info.

1) What synth was used for the "bells" or glockenspiel sound in the chorus of the song?

2) Is this original or later session?

I'm pleased Nik Kershaw gets a mention in our all things synthy webspace. Both he and Howard Jones were/are two of a kind. Both very talented and made the most of all the "vintage" synths so many people now desire. In fact those guys had apart in making those synths desirable!

It was a real horn section, it was Jerry Hays Horn Section, the same one that played on Michael Jackson's Theiller.
