chaz jankel

Post by Roulade » Fri Jan 02, 2009 3:06 am

have noticed that no-one really talks about chaz jankel on here.

personally i am a fan. lately i've been trying to rest "ai no corrida", "get myself together" off rotation but have instead been thrashing "3,000,000 synths" and the dub of "call me"

is anyone else into his stuff?

no-one else feeling chaz?

i think it's mostly a beautiful thing that "get myself together" gets so much play in the club at the moment

he's best known with Ian Dury and The Blockhead's, esp on "Hit me with your Rhythm Stick"

I love Chazza. "Ai No Corrida" is the bomb. Only discovered his stuff a few years ago but he was pretty popular in Canada so it was easy to catch up and find the old records everywhere.

i rate chaz's solo stuff so far above any of the blockheads stuff i've heard to date.

and yeah "ai no corrida" is def a jam.
you know your track is a jam when quincy jones is doing a cover of it.

Hello,

Sorry bout the response delay. One track in particular was, "Glad To Know You":

That track was a popular club/mix record in the New York area during the (early/mid?) eighties. Back then, I never knew who actually did the track, but your thread pulled my coat.
I knew he originally wrote, "Ai no Corrida", and appreciated his craft, but I have always preferred Quincy's version, as his album, "The Dude" was a collaborative masterpiece, and had a bunch of Yamaha CS-80 in the tracks.

Will check out some more of Chas's stuff as time permits.

Regards,

Lawrence

Was watching "Real Genius" today (great flick!) and one of the songs on the soundtrack "Number one" had some nice synth work:

Really nice tune. Love the groovy synth stabs.

Any idea what synths were used in the production?
