Rhodes Satellite speakers

Post by WhinyLittleRunt » Mon Jan 12, 2009 1:40 am

Has anyone ever used them in a setup to amplify other synths besides the Rhodes itself? Trying to figure out if they will sound good for live sound (not stage, just practice room) and not muddy like an amp...

Well, just like the suitcase amp, they lack a little high frequency response. They do sound pretty good though. which model is your set? I was running my Micro through my peterson amp suitcase a little while back, but I stopped because I thing it might have strained one of those germanium transistor too much. Hard to say, but I did end up blowing a channel a few days later. The moog was connected and they were both on, but I was playing at the time, they were both idle!

Now, if you have something like a Janus I system or Leslie 60s, I wouldn't be so worried. It's just those early amps, they're so temperamental.
Hammond RT-2, Hammond M3, Hammond L-102, Rhodes mk1 suitcase 88, Sequential Circuits Prophet-5, Yamaha TX-802, Fender Twin Reverb, Leslie 45

Well they're not my speakers; a friend of mine owns them and we are trying to decide on an amplification system for a live practice room. He actually has two sets; I think one of each (early Fender-Rhodes and the other just straight Rhodes) but I know he has been modifying the speakers, etc... the job just hasn't been completed. We are going to hook up one of the sets this week and I was just trying to see if we'd be wasting time with it if it sounded muddy. I'm kinda looking forward to hearing them actually because this will be my first time. Would it be safe to assume that if you ran the outs of a mixer to them and set the eq levels, you could get some decent high end out of them?
