Duran Duran In The Studio; ALL Analog!

Hi. If you visit the Duran Duran website and go to the "Multimedia" section, you can see they have posted new "in the studio" pics.

http://www.duranduran.com/wordpress/?page_id=14005

The bank of synths Nick Rhodes has on display includes a MOOG Voyager, a MOOG Memorymoog, and two real oddities -- an ELKA of some kind (on bottom tier), and another (second from the top), with membrane buttons like a RHODES Chroma, but this one has a five-octave synth keyboard, not the weighted one.

Can anyone identify these analog rarities?

:)

I LOVE DURAN DURAN ... always have, always will

but ... it's just damn tough being so pretty — and widely photographed — and then getting puffy and oldish ...

I think they need to go to the desert and stop drinking water and eating for a while ... (and then maybe some testosterone replacement therapy for at least one of them ... )

Poor things ... God Bless Them, Always ...

On a different note ... Why do they charge so much for their shows ... ??? The last time they were in town I checked prices and they were ridiculous ... like $200 or something ... Geez ... Didn't they squirrel away any money during the years to help subsidize more affordable ticket prices ... ???

End OT rant ...

Interesting to see the V-Synth is just being used as a midi controller.

what I don't get is what possible keyboard parts john taylor would have to play if nick has like 5 synths around him?

nick isnt playing anything!

when i saw them on the astronaut tour he wasnt doing s**t!

that pisses me off so much

why even bother being on stage?

or having such a huge rig?

he could at least give us some eye candy and bring some analog gear out and mime on that!
No one cares, no one sympathizes,
so you just stay home and play synthesizers.

'Why even bother being on stage?' was exactly what I thought when I saw them last year, one of the worst live shows I've ever seen. They looked like a bunch of tired old men just going through the motions because their airplay royalties have dried up.

Saw them last year as well and I had mixed feelings. Was actually the first time I saw them live, so that was good. They did the Kraftwerk thing and lined all their little synths together pumping out techno. But something seemed to be missing throughout the show. I'm glad I saw it, but wasn't impressed. I think I paid $60 for my tix.

I should probably add that I've got nothing against 80's revival shows at all, DEVO were absolutely amazing when I saw them last year. They had energy, Duran Duran did not.
