I just purchased a JD-990 and was intending to buy a "Vintage Synth" card for it.
I notice that the front bottom right of the unit has a metallic pressed on label that appears to be factory original with large "EXPANDED" and then "Plus 8Megabyte Vintage Synth" underneath.
When I look inside the plate covering the expansion slot, the slot is empty.
So, I don't know if the unit was sold with the expansion board inserted and has since been 'cannibalized,' or if Roland sold a model with the Vintage Synth chip added to the main board.
Can anyone tell me which is the case, please?

The expansion cards were sold with a sticker you would put on your module. Yours used to have the expansion but it has since been removed, I'm afraid.
