Ladytron's Drum machines and sequencing??
Anyone know what drum machines and sequencing programs or hardware Ladytron uses on their first two albums 604 & Light and Magic?

oo
The band uses a (great) drummer live. As for the studio . . . An interview with Daniel Hunt on the KORG website states they have used the Electribe ER-1. Some of the sounds on 604 and Light & Magic resemble the old ROLAND TR-808; I'm sure the band, like Depeche Mode, has a collection of vintage drum boxes for specific sounds that they then filter and distort and mangle for unique beats.

No one cares, no one sympathizes,
so you just stay home and play synthesizers.

Fairly certain there's a lot of TR 707 on 604. Especially Playgirl.

They're playing chords on a Korg MS20 in their video for runaway.. I don't know if they know what they're doing
Moog LP + Casio SK1 and MT-75 + tube amp = good tone.

Re: Ladytron's Drum machines and sequencing??
nah, for 604 it's the Yamaha RY-8 with some samples of the TR-707, setup (sequenced) in Cubase, synths played by hand with minimal cut and past (with the exception of sequenced tracks like Discotraxx), bounced to Pro Tools for the mix
the main synths are: SH-09 for almost all basses on the album (Danny's favorite synth), Crumar Stratus, Korg M-500 Micro Presets, Logan String ensemble for a lot of the string on 604, Casio CT 630 and many more
i think the SH-02 and the Jen came later for touring since Danny couldn't play all the tracks by himself (he's the main creator behind 604)
from an interview Daniel gave in 2002:
"Yeah, I used to be really lucky here in Liverpool. There was a shop called the Keyboard Corporation about seven or eight years ago, and it closed down because I was the only customer. When it closed I inherited a few keyboards, like the Crumar. So I've got this Logan thing, it's got a really nice, ghostly sound and a really great orchestra sound. I play some riffs on "The Way That I Found You" that are very Joe Meek-like, "Telstar." I've got a Sequential Circuits Pro One, which I used with a MIDI to CV to play the bassline on "Discotraxx" and stuff like that, stuff with fast, sequence-based lines. It's really tight. I've got this Casio CT 630 and that sound is all over the album. I think it was the first MIDI Casio. We had them when I was at school in the mid-80s and I thought it was useless until I picked one up for like 20 pounds. It's got all these amazing stock sounds on it that, when the keyboard was made, were probably a bit long in the tooth. Every keyboard sound you'd need if you were making a record between 1976 and 1980 were there, which were obviously dated when I last used the keyboard. Really big, sweeping pads and great synth strings, organs, and harpsichords. In fact, the atmosphere in "He Took Her To a Movie" is completely done on that keyboard. I've got this old Korg organ sitting here and there's a couple toy keyboards as well. "

Re: Ladytron's Drum machines and sequencing??
for fans of Ladytron and old analog synths in general there's a old show you can download here:
http://www.electrofreaks.com/ladytron/ ... php?t=4598
scroll down to "3. CONCERTS"
the first one listed is "Live At La Route Du Rock"
after the concert pictures there are 8 mediafire links, download the 8 rar files in a folder on your computer and unrar, it's 48 minutes of good music only played on vintage synths, no MIDI, no guitar, no drums!!!

I think it's safe to say they know EXACTLY what they're doing. The video in question is just that, a video; if you've ever been on a video shoot, you'd know that nobody ever plays live, they just lipsync/ mime to the audio track playing over the loudspeakers on the set; otherwise it messes up the continuity of the shoot, it's a b***h to sync up to and it costs ALOT more money to fix it in post. They're just using the MS as a prop in the video as it's become their signature machine.
