Damn, seriously considering an OB-1 at the moment that have a day to make a decision before it hits ebay. This kinda throws a wrench in my consideration process.

Hmmm, recently, thoroughly restored OB-1 for $1350 or wait for one of these...

Any info what patch-points will be available on the CV model?

man ... this seals it ... had sellers remorse about letting go of my pro one ... but now i think it's going to go in favor of an MFB Kraftzwerg and one of these SEM's !!!!

$1,350 doesn't sound like a bad price to me. It might take a bit of a hit, but even if Tom sells 10,000 of the neo-SEMs the OB-1 isn't going to suddenly be worth $700. Some people will still want the keyboard, chassis, vintage vibe, etc.

Buy the OB-1. If you don't like it, trade it to me for my Pro-One.

(Shamelessly stolen from another forum)
Patchpoints that will be available on the new SEM. They are the same as on the originals. These are internal patchpoints; I don't know offhand which ones are being brought out to the panel on the CV model.

I've read the 'news' and I'm happy...these are very good news for the synth market's health...

As an Oberheim synth owner, I'm really amazed and moved... :P

Go ahead Tom!

So he is pretty much gonna be crazy not to offer a 4 voice keyboard right? I mean what the h**l am I going to drop the $599 sem modules into? :D

do you think it will be more likely people will just chain 4 of these via midi? I would sure rather have a 4 voice with a sexy keyboard.

I'm excited about finally having the chance to get a sem.

When when when!?

I think Tom said he was planning for the fall. I told him he was sure to sell a lot of the new SEM's and asked if he could keep up with the initial demand, to which he chuckled and said "sure, of course." He's working on a new sequencer for it also. I'd be surprised if there weren't a few more products on the horizon.

I just got a confirmation email from him about being put on the list to which I responded that I had just pre-ordered this morning and wondered about the exact release date. I also asked him about being inundated with orders, and if that would delay the release..

He responded almost immediately that (from what he understood), audiomidi will fulfill the pre-orders in the order that they are received... He also indicated I was probably pretty high on the list.. so (quoting him) "look OUT!" So I guess if you want one, get in there now!

He didn't mention a specific date, but september still seems to be the current release month.

Slightly ironically, this will officially be the first NEW synth I have ever bought... interesting that it had to be a 30+ year old design that I've never even played before that is still cheaper than its original predecessors-what amazing times we live in for synths!

OH MY GOD IT'S A MIRACLE.

There is a VCA control patch point, which means I would be able to control this with my French Connection!

I'm really interested but I think I'm going to hold out. I'd like to see some reviews and demos. If the talk here and on AH is any indication this should be a popular item as far as analog synths go.
