Nope. At present it's exclusive to AudioMIDI. And I don't think that's likely to change any time soon - The units are hand built & AudioMIDI already have a big back log to catch up with. It will be a while before I get mine that's for sure. Apparently people that ordered in October are still waiting! That's one of the reason's that I just thought, 'what the h**l! I'll order it right now', after phoning just to find out what 'Availability : Special order', meant on the item description :D
Just order from AudioMidi and they'll send it. Obviously you'll pay shipping and customs charges but I thought it was well worth it.

How does that work with the customs charges? I've never got stung for that before when ordering stuff from abroad. First time for everything I suppose :(

The shipping company Fedex or whoever call you and tell you how much you owe - based on the item value + their handling/processing fee. Once you pay it - they deliver. Simple.

I see. Never gone through this sort of process before. Maybe I just got lucky previously? Is it just when ordering from the States or does this apply to Europe as well? S**t! I wonder how much I will get stung for?! :shock:

It depends where you live and what the regulations are. Here it's roughly 18% on amounts over $1000, but each country is different.

I found this online;

http://www.dutycalculator.com/

Not sure how accurate this is but it worked out at just over £100. I can live with that ;)

Yup, not much out there now, but hopefully more will come. If I get one for xmas, I'll definitely post a vid.

I'm hoping someone will post a video of the SEM being sequenced acid-line style so I can get a feel for the envelope response/snappiness.

Love the sound of the SEM :)

I sent an email to tomoberheim.com asking about the connectivity on the MIDI>CV version of the SEM. Got this back today;
Off Topic
The rear panel of the SEM MIDI to CV version has the following connector set:

MIDI In
MIDI Thru

The following go to the EXT inputs to the VCF on the SEM:
Audio Input #1 (variable gain - gain pot is on front panel of MIDI-CV module)
Audio Input #2 (normalled with internal 440 Hz oscillator)

Audio Output

CV #1 Output (volt/oct result of summation of Note On + PitchBend + Frontpanel Transpose
CV #2 Output (modulation voltage which results from the Source selection on MIDI-CV frontpanel (Velocity, Selected Controller, Channel Pressure)

Has Tom shipped any of the drop-ins yet? I'm contemplating patching one out myself and using it as the basis of an otherwise DIY modular. That is if I get ambitious.

Not sure about that. I think only the patch/CV version has shipped so far. When I emailed just over a week ago asking about the MIDI>CV version I got a reply saying that testing was about to start hopefully with units shipping mid to late Jan 2010.

Sent another email to Tom to see if there's any news on the SEM MIDI>CV version. He replied saying the software still needs to be sorted. Shouldn't keep emailing him really but I'm anxioua for news :)
