I've just got one of these and have been flicking through the presets. I didn't realise when people say it is one of the most used synths, that I would recognise the presets (even with no expansion cards) off records over the years.

Here's a few I have found (all dance records)

PR-A:107 - MandolinTrem

Three Drives - Greece 2000 (towards end)


Matt Darey - From Russia With Love (prominent after 2 mins)


Sunburst - Eyeball (Matt Darey, used on Kevin & Perry movie )


PR-A:108 - Nylon Guitar

Banda Sonora - Guitarra G (I think they used the Gt.Fret from the GM bank too!)


PR-B:101 - Taj Mahal

The Prodigy - Climbatize (Pretty sure it's this patch, 2:38 onwards)


Pretty much every sound on Brainbug - Nightmare


I recognise the "Pizz" patches on the machine and expansion cards from a lot of dance tracks.

I also recognise Dulcimer & East Melody patches from some dance tracks but I can't put my finger on it at the mo.

Also when I hear EthnoMetals it reminds me of an 80's movie, is this taken from the D-50??

Anyone else have any, especially non dance tracks?

It's hard to know what the 1080 was used on, as not every album lists the equipment used. You may be able to recognize patches, but who guarantees they're from the 1080, and not the 2080, XP50 or XP80?

That is true, plus the newer XP models (5080 etc) on newer tracks.

I guess if anyone has any recognised presets from these series of synths, get yer anoraks on and post 'em!
