So what´s up with the Prophet 5´s CV/Gate ins and outs?
I tried controlling the P5 from my SH-2
Not just that I can´t do single triggering, I can´t even do true "multitriggering" as I can´t play a new note until I fully released the previous one...
Same thing when play the SH-2 from the P5, single triggering no more, plus
let´s say I play an A and then a C without releasing the A, the C continues to sound until I release the A
I guess it´s something with the gates?
Is it possible to mod the P5 to have legato, when controlled by CV/Gate?
Prophet 5, no legato when controlling 1 voice via CV/gate

Re: Prophet 5, no legato when controlling 1 voice via CV/gate
I had this same problem with my Kenton Pro 2000 mk II and P5. Multi-trigger, single trigger, every option I tried, nothing seemed to matter.
Then I switched from the "main" channel A gate out to one of the aux. outputs (set to "gate") and it worked.
I have absolutely no idea why. The aux channels have no fancy options for how the gate works, so I don't know what the important difference is in the behavior.
It doesn't play in unison, regardless, in case anyone is wondering.
Sorry, that doesn't really help. But at least it's not broken! I get the moral is you just need a more flexible (*cough* expensive) CV interface as all synths have their quirks. (P.S. If you don't have a CV controller with note memory, it's worth paying extra just for that. The synthesizer.com system I had was much cooler with that, no everything going silent if you brushed the wrong key for a millisecond). Truth be told, I wish I had an encore expressionist, but they never show up used so the kenton was half the price.
As for the outs- there's probably some 25-30 year old CV sequencer it works great with. Good luck elsewhere.
P.P.S I don't want to discourage non-midi P5 buyers- the money you save can buy you a kenton retrofit with install and they're a million times better than the factory midi. Too bad encore doesn't make one, though.

Re: Prophet 5, no legato when controlling 1 voice via CV/gate
Thanks a lot bsh
Thanks rokuez, I already tried prophet5.org, no luck
Been on vacation for 2 weeks, no computers, no forum-hang...guess what? IT WAS GREAT !!!
So back to reality...(synths & internet
)
1. I forgot to mention that I have a Kenton Pro Solo MKII which I also tried, just as you with all settings, no luck.
It has an aux, but I don´t know if I can set it to gate, as on the Pro 2000?
I bought it directly from Kenton UK, and they said it would work "since it has the single trigger parameter"
Got it for my Mini first, but thought it would be cool bonus to use it with the P5.
2. The whole idea with this is that the P5 lacks monomode (which MKS-80, JP-8 etc have). So when I want single triggering, I have to use unison which is sometimes "too much" and "phasey" (even if I turn of voices to just 2). There are a lot of patches I did and they beg for single triggering, not unison.
3. As for midi-interfaces, I have the Kenton in my P5, which is GREAT for being able to control filter and/or VCA with velocity (even if it affects all the voices). Adds a lot of expression. It´s a tad slow though...
I checked the Encore kits for the Oberheims, and you can control a whole lot by CC´s.
BUT, you can´t control anything with velocity. I just can´t believe they left this out
Is there a way to remap a CC to velocity?
Thanks again!

Re: Prophet 5, no legato when controlling 1 voice via CV/gate
OK, dug up my manual for the Pro Solo MKII...
It does not have gate on the aux channel, only trig pulse which doesn´t do anything in this case
Hmmm....guess I have to go for a Pro 2000 MK II then....
