I'm looking for some gnarly bass sounds for my minimoog...
Got a minimoog voyager and I'm looking to get some dirty, raunchy-as-****, bass sounds to play around with. something with a house/electro vibe. anyone got some patch ideas?

there are a couple of patch books for the minimoog, these will also work on the voyager series. I only have the minimoog patch book II, as i can't seem to find the 1st one. here is a link to get you started though: http://songinbooks.blogspot.com/2008/05 ... ok-ii.html

Sorry, the Voyager doesn't do electro-bass. Get an EA-1. It's got better presets.
edit: ok sorry, stupid/nasty comment, but seriously did you ever try turning those knobs yourself?

Of course. But I'm but a student to the diverse sounds and aural manipulation of complex synthesizer electronics. That's why I'm here.
Re: I'm looking for some gnarly bass sounds for my minimoog...
aren't most modern electro-house bass sounds essentially 2-osc closely tuned saws or squares with wide open filters?

Mute Osc3. Use the pedal bus to send Osc3 to filter and set resonance at around 3 or 4. Use the modwheel bus to send low-speed LFO to Wave. Tune Osc 2 to taste.
I am no longer in pursuit of vintage synths. The generally absurd inflation from demand versus practical use and maintenance costs is no longer viable. The internet has suffocated and vanquished yet another wonderful hobby. Too bad.

I have a recipe for a heavy bass sound. I discovered it myself. Basically it sounds like a much heavier and fatter version of a singlular sawtooth wave.
Set oscillator 1 to 32'. Make it a square wave (a pure square wave to start with). Set oscillator 2 to 16' and make it a sawtooth wave. Set the fine tune knobs on each to the center position. Use the filter and envelopes as you see fit.
Do it and tell me what you think!

Savitar - just a tip. If you refer to your Moog as a Voyager rather than a minimoog your subjects will be a lot clearer. I realize Moog call it a “Minimoog Voyager” but most people associate minimoog with the original minimoogs, model D, what have you. Most people call the new “Minimoog Voyagers” just Voyagers to have a clear distinction as they are different in many ways.

Run headphone output back into filter input with patch cable. Headphone volume will control amount of grit/distortion.

set OSC 2 to (hard)Sync. route filter EG to modulated OSC2 frequency. vary modulation amount and the filter EG's attack and decay times while playing. also change the waveshape for different "sync textures".

hard sync being the 1-2 sync on/off switch?
Re: I'm looking for some gnarly bass sounds for my minimoog...
And how do I rout the filter EG?
