Hey,
i have venturesome idea. I have Bit One with CEMs and badly damaged polysix - but with working ssm chips.
Tell me, bit one owners: are there any (or - if there are - how many) differences in electronics of early bit one factory ssm models and later, cem ones?
Is simple swap possible?

Nope.

So this is where my cunning plan fails...

Life is never as simple as you want it to be. Not when electronics are involved.

Check the datasheets for the ssm and cem. Pinouts are different, different beasts entirely, AFAIK.
So a complicated swap is possible

Re: Crumar Bit One cem/ssm swap
I guess I should have added something along the lines of madtheory's response. It might be possible - I recall a thread from not so far back detailing the use of a SSM filter on a Juno 106. I do believe he only got one chip working, and that was a very complicated hack.
If only it were easy as plugging it in - if so, I'd have swapped between the CEM-3320s and SSM-2044s between my P5 Rev 3.2 and Wave 2.2 years ago. Sigh.
