is the mfb schlagzwerg a bigger mfb 503?
what do you think? i prefer the little 503. i just saw the schlagzwerg and i haven't found any plus feature on it. like an 503 with patch cables. anybody tried this black beast?

I think they are probably similar, but the s'werg is going to have a wider range of sounds. The 503 is really tweaked to be as 808-like as possible.

The 503 reminds me more of a tr-606 based on what i've heard - The 502 and 522 are the 808 like machines. For the schlagzwerg, the kick, snare and toms are the same as in the 503, and the hats are from the 522. The advantage of schlagzwerg is indeed all the cv ins/outs. I'd consider this a huge plus because it really expands what you can do with it. The advantage of the 503 is that all the parameters can be automated with midi cc.

whoops... that's right, I was getting them confused. the 522 is the "808" machine. the 503 sounds a little more unique. so in that sense, I imagine (especially since the 503 is a few years old) that the s'werg is not too similar internally.skweeegor wrote:The 503 reminds me more of a tr-606 based on what i've heard - The 502 and 522 are the 808 like machines.
