Why I love the machinedrum UW...

Post by hfinn » Tue Apr 20, 2010 2:35 am

...because I can essentially create whatever drum machine I want. I created a kit that recreates the rare EKO drum computer. It's just cool to me that I can do that so easily in a hardware drum machine.

Being able to freely assign more than one LFO to any track and re-using the same RAM machine more than once live and have them each sound different.

And it has Elvis.

plus.... the ability to create patterns on the fly without even stopping the machine (like the 606), except for changing kits of course. The UW is a versatile workhorse of a drum machine.

The Machinedrum UW has recently piqued my interest after having been totally indifferent to elektron stuff prior to that. I'd love to try one out.

So far this thread reads like an advertisment!

Every drum machine I've ever used can do that, which ones can't?

if you mean changing between write mode and play mode without stopping the sequencer, most drum machines can't do that.

you don't have to stop the sequencer to change kits (im 9.999999% sure - not in front of MD right now) - or even set up kits from scratch.

That's what i was meaning, a lot of drum machines can't do that by switching between write and play mode while running.

No one cares, no one sympathizes,
so you just stay home and play synthesizers.

...because after I got mine, I made more music in 3 months than I did in 3 years with my ESX, and MUCH better sounding, much more dynamic, cohesive and detailed. and it has THE best name for a drum machine. you can't really ask "so, machinedrum, what does it do?"
