Okay, I'm a newbie but please don't let that put you off too much. I'm also a broke college student, so unfortunately this is pure fantasy, but I still think this could be fun. Here are the rules:
The Synth Genie comes to you and says he will provide you with ten synths. Price is no object, but the following rules and conditions apply:
---You already own a Yamaha SY77 (just because that's the only synth I have in real life)
---No more than three synths may be purely analog; at least five must be true "digital synths" (i.e., analogs and analog/digital hybrids combined can total no more than half the list)
---At least three must be of Japanese extraction; at least two must be of American extraction; and at least one must be of European extraction
---No software synths
---At least one must be a ROMpler (i.e., must work with ROM samples to generate all its sounds, though editing and filters are just fine)
---At least one must have some sampling capabilities
---At least five must have keyboards, but at least one must be either a rackmount or desktop module
---At least one must have been produced prior to 1980, and at least one must have been produced since 1995
---At least one must use FM synthesis
What would be your choices?

Re: Let's play a little game...
Yikes, ten synths? I couldn't handle ten synths
I have simple tastes, so.....
I'd ask for a compact monosynth, maybe an SH2, but the SH09 I have wins on cuteness anyway, so I might just ask for a custom paint job and make all the components factory fresh. Then I'd go for something like a machinedrum, and a decent effects unit. If the genie says "but rules are rules you gotta pick ten" then I'd tell it to go away. (I'm not being sarky, honestly, that's what I'd ask for!)

Not to brag, but I could find most of them in my collection:
1. Ensoniq SQ-80 --- my first. will never sell
2. Ensoniq TS-12 --- great rich, smooth mellow-ness
3. Yamaha SY-99 --- deep programing to infinity
4. Kurzweil K2500x --- the beast of workstations
5. Aleses QS-8 --- a ROMpler for all uses
6. Moog Minimoog --- just because
7. Roland JX-10 --- same here
but if I get ten wishes then I'd add:
8. Nord modular --- more deepness
9. Yamaha CS-80 --- Hey ! It's a fantasy, right??
10. A wall-to-wall Buchla --- just for the bling.
11. If this Genie will take a bribe for one more: Matrix-12

Re: Let's play a little game...
For the record, my picks as of right now (in no particular order) would probably be:
1. Roland D50
2. Yamaha DX1
3. Kurzweil K2somethingorother (must have sampling option)
4. Moog Taurus I
5. New England Digital Synclavier II
6. Alesis Andromeda A6
7. Korg---either DW8000, DSS-1 or Wavestation
8. E-mu Carnaval
9. Gleeman Pentaphonic
10. Ensoniq Fizmo
Of course, this could change in an instant. Yamaha EX-5, ARP 2600, Minimoog, Moog The Rogue, Kawai K5000, and E-mu Emulators, Ensoniq ZR76, Akai AX-series, and Roland Jupiter are all synths I'd like to mess with, as well as some sort of drum machine---maybe Roland R-8? I dunno...I'm weird lol.

Re: Let's play a little game...
Hey, bro, you could have given me both the genie and the SY77...I'm sure another one couldn't hurt, and I'm sure he'd have enough genie magic to give me my ten as well...or at least hook me up with a pretty girl, because I'm sure genies know lots of folks.
